Tonight we talked about web 2.0. We discussed how far technology has come. It made me realize how big of an impact technology has on education. It allows us to bring professionals, images, and other things into our classrooms. Technology allows us to network and collaborate easily. As educators we can share and make our ideas accessible to everyone.
We learned how to use Tagxedo which is like Wordle, which I love. this would be a great site for a debate like Chandra talked about tonight in class. This is an easy site for students to use, as long as they know how to copy and paste on the computer. This would be a really fun thing to do in place of a KWL or a class discussion. This is a nice program because it allows you to save it, unlike Wordle.
We talked about Class 2.0, which is a forum which was made for teachers by teachers. I am planning on signing up for this forum.
Where are you as an educator with using online tools as part of your teaching pedagogy?
As an educator I use many online tools from Kidblog, to a class Weebly page. I use Kidblog as a place for my students to reflect and answer discussion questions. This is great, when I read through their responses I get great responses from my shy lids. Getting online is something that is done on a daily basis in my classroom. We of course use Pearson SuccessNet for assessing, pre-teaching, and viewing other content relevant to the topic that is being taught/discussed.
How do you feel Web2.0 fits into education?
I feel that Web 2.0 is the future of education. Many other professions are very technologically advanced, and education seems to be quickly jumping on the bandwagon. Web 2.0 allows us to connect with our students, co-workers and other professionals easily. It is great because we can collaborate and learn from each other. Technology allows us to advance the education field and the educators in it.
