Steps to Digital Story Telling:
Pre-Production:
1. Write a script
2. Planning the project. This is where the storyboard comes into play.
3. Organize project folders. Place to store materials so that students are organized and know where their stuff is. USB Drive is a great place to store
Production Phase: Gathering and preparing digital media
4. Recording the voiceover
5. Gather, create, and edit media resources. Be mindful of copyright usage, CC
6. Create your rough cut first, and final cut last
6.5. Final cut, fine tune. Plan for credits and identify resources used. Add your music last. If you add music first you are trying to time elements to fit the music.
7. Applause, applause!
Storyboarding:
Storyboarding is a great way for students to get their ideas onto something, and in a chronological order. You can storyboard on the computer or on an iPad. My favorite storyboarding app is Comic Life. It is simple to use, and once students know how to use it, it is simple for them to storyboard their stories and ideas. Storyboards are a great way to plan out what is going to be done.
Stop Motion Apps:
There are many stop motion apps that were talked about in class today. My favorite one that I played with was the OSnap app. This is so fun to play with. We shared some of our projects in our class, and their were some great projects. I really liked the one my neighbor did. She drew a tree, and took pictures during the process. It looked really cool once she was done.
Tuesday Story Project: For my project we are going to do a Monkey See Monkey Do video. We have made our storyboard, and have made all the props our of pipe cleaners. Tomorrow we will record our stop motion story. It was easy to storyboard it out, and this really helped my group to come to an understanding about what direction we were going.
